On the September 9th, Decentlab contributed to the annual TreeNet meeting chaired by Dr. Roman Zweifel from the research unit Forest Dynamics of Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL.
The TreeNet program continuously monitors tree stem radius fluctuations with point dendrometers in order to analyse forest ecosystem responses to climate change.
In the meeting, we learned that despite a hot summer in Switzerland the Swiss forests showed no general drought stress. Stem growth increments of 2015 were comparable to the ones of the wet and cool summer 2014. However, a wide range of site- and species-specific differences were detected.
